Jade Rolling: A Guide

Hi everyone! It's Mai here, and I'm so excited to finally be writing this post.

I've been a fan of jade rolling for about 4 months now, and I've gotten a lot of questions about it, so I thought I would make somewhat of a comprehensive guide about how I, personally, have added jade rolling to my skincare routine.

Let's have a moment for some FAQs:

Q: Where is your jade roller from?

A: I purchased mine from Herbivore Botanicals! I love the brand itself, and I thought their rollers were beautiful. They've since released a Rose Quartz version, which I really want to get my hands on.

Q: How do you like it? / What does it do?

A: I love it! I'm so glad that I've incorporated this technique into my routine. Jade, as a stone, is thought to represent power and immortality in traditional Chinese medicine. It's naturally a very cooling stone, which is why it works so well on the skin. Using it in roller form is said to help with lymphatic drainage (which is very detoxifying), de puffing, promoting a health glow, giving the skin more elasticity, and circulation in general. All of those things sound amazing, right? I thought so too!

Q: How / when do you do it?

A: Let me start off by saying that the roller that I purchased is double-ended, which means that there's a larger end for the face, and a smaller end for the eye-area. I totally recommend it! It makes rolling around the eye area so seamless and comfortable. As for how I do it, I first put my roller in the freezer, which I absolutely recommend. This technique really helps with de-puffing and calming the skin. First thing in the morning, if I feel as if my skin is extra puffy, I'll jade roll while I have my coffee! Otherwise, I'll wait until my nighttime skincare routine, at the very end after all of my products have been applied. This really helps everything fully sink into the skin, leaving behind a gorgeous, healthy glow. Sometimes I'll even add another layer of moisturizer if I feel I need it. Rolling itself is super easy; I normally start at the center of my face, using outward and upward strokes. Always upward! You don't want to pull down on your face - that promotes aging / wrinkles. Rolling upward will help to minimize fine lines! I also use this technique on my neck, as well as on my decolletage. I love it!

Note: This is not the only way to jade roll, figure out what works best for you and your skin! This is just the way that I prefer :)

And there you have it! My comprehensive guide to jade rolling - a beautiful technique that I've been adoring. If you decide to try it out, let us know!

Have a great day!
