Mai's Favorite Face Masks for Dry/Sensitive Skin
Hey everyone! It’s Mai here, and I’m really excited to finally write + publish this post, as it’s a topic that I’ve been playing with - in my head - for awhile. As I’ve mentioned millions of times before, my skin is extremely picky and very sensitive. With that being said, it’s hard for me to find products - especially masks - that my skin actually accepts. AND my skin not freaking out is only half the battle, they have to WORK too. SO, with that being said, here is a list of my tried and true face masks that work for dry + sensitive skin! I hope you all enjoy :-)
2.5oz / $39.00
The first mask that I have to mention is the Caudalie Glycolic Peel mask. I’ve been using this mask consistently for over a year now, and I’m at the point of squeezing the tube for every last drop because it’s THAT good. I’ve raved about this mask before, but just in case you haven’t seen any of my reviews for it, let me break it down!
This mask is good for all skin types, according to Caudalie, and is a gentle glycolic (AHA) peel mask to reveal softer, brighter skin. The reason I was so drawn to this product is because it claims to combat dullness and uneven texture, which I struggle with a lot. All you have to do is layer it on your skin, leave it on for 10 minutes, and rinse off. It’s THAT simple, and extremely effective.
The mask buffs away dull skin cells and also brightens any dark spots. It also includes “Viniferine”, which is a Caudalie-exclusive secret ingredient that is clinically proven to lighten dark spots 62 times more than vit c. Yes, you read that right. 62 TIMES MORE. Now, like I’ve also mentioned before, I don’t really struggle with any dark spots, so I can’t confirm/deny this, but…. I can say that my skin is the softest it’s ever been after using this mask consistently within my routine.
The last power ingredient is papaya enzymes, which helps with illumination and invigoration. All of these ingredients together help with cell turnover and collagen production - which, yes. Last but not least, this product is vegan, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, safe for sensitive skin (!!!), free of all fillers, gluten, GMOs, and synthetic chemicals. AND with every Caudalie product you purchase, they donate 1% of the proceeds towards planting trees! Everyone wins here. Check it out!

Moving on …. To another Caudalie mask …. I’m sorry, I can’t help it! I adore this brand, truly.
The Instant Detox Mask is another mask that I keep on hand to rotate into my weekly masking routine. This one, however, is a clay mask that helps with detoxifying the skin to keep pores clean and tight. Like the mask mentioned above, this one is also good for all skin types, and assists with dullness and uneven texture. However, the ingredients are obviously different, as is the outcome. This mask is said to be like “a vacuum for the pores”, using Grape marc to detoxify, and pink clay + coffee to absorb blackhead-causing dirt and excess sebum. This mask also naturally fights off bacteria, reducing the likelihood of any future breakouts.
I really, really like this mask - mostly because it’s one of the only clay masks that my skin can handle, but also because it WORKS. As a freelance makeup artist and someone that loves makeup in general, I wear … a lot of it. I always worry about my pores because of this, but this mask ACTUALLY helps to suck all of the leftover makeup and dirt out of my pores, and I’ve really seen a lot less blemishes / clogged pores because of it. It also helps immensely with any texture / dullness that I may have.
I really feel like this is just a great staple clay mask to have on hand, which is why I travel with it everywhere. I love this one! This mask is also vegan, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, safe for sensitive skin, free of all fillers, gluten, GMOs, and synthetic chemicals.

Okay, next up is a product / brand that I feel like I’m the last person to be introduced to, but better late than never, I suppose. It took me forever to get around to trying this, despite the rave reviews, because of the fragrance. It honestly kind of scared me, especially knowing how my skin normally reacts to fragranced products, and ESPECIALLY because it was something I was going to be layering onto my skin before bed, without washing off.
I finally bit the bullet though, starting with a patch test. Once my skin seemed to be okay with it, I tried it out … and ….. Wow. I’m really glad I did. This mask literally gives you glass skin overnight. I’m not kidding. According to Glow Recipe, this is a skin-smoothing, radiance-boosting sleeping mask with watermelon, HA, and AHAs that gently exfoliate and refine the look of pores.
Listen, they aren’t lying.
The key ingredients in this mask are:
Obviously watermelon extract, which hydrates, delivers essential vitamins, and contains anti-inflammatory properties to soothe irritation.
HA (Hyaluronic Acid - one of my favorite ingredients), hydrates the skin by holding 1000 times its weight in moisture.
AHA - a blend of lactic and glycolic acids that gently exfoliate and hydrate to reveal brighter, smoother skin over time. Removes dead surface cells.
Peony Root - brightens and soothes skin.
I’m really impressed with this mask, and also how easy it is to use. The results speak for itself!
This product is vegan + cruelty-free, and also on Sephora’s “Clean at Sephora” list.

I was really, really excited to try Summer Fridays, especially after all of the rave surrounding their Jetlag Mask. However, the Overtime Mask really caught my attention, and I knew I had to try it. I’m glad that I did!
This mask is a clarifying mask that uses pumpkin and exfoliating apricot seed powder to polish away dead skin cells for a luminous effect.
Summer Fridays made sure not to use any sort of synthetic abrasives when formulating this mask, which keeps this product from damaging the skin’s surface. Still, I was very careful when applying and using this product in general, and I made sure to patch test, since I’ve had adverse reactions to some other masks that use pumpkin enzymes as an ingredient in the past.
My skin actually had no issue with this product - at all - and I was pleasantly surprised! This mask is really great for dull skin - which I tend to struggle with - since it gently buffs away dead skin cells using oat-kernel proteins and free radical-fighting antioxidants. I’ve noticed a brightness in my skin after using this, as well as it being a lot softer/smoother to the touch - WITHOUT any sort of irritation whatsoever. Also, it smells like fall. That’s a huge plus. This product is formulated without fragrance, silicone, and gluten, vegan, and cruelty-free.
I hope you all enjoyed this and were able to find a few new masks to add to your routine! I know that it can be hard to find masks out there that your skin accepts, and I’m lucky that I have these to run too! Also, thank you all for the constant love and support. We love you all so much! -MAI @ THEGLOSSARRAY
