Overnight Under Eye Masks? - VIIcode Skin Review!
When VIIcode Skin Care reached out to Dax and I a few weeks ago, they mentioned to us that they were a skincare company that focused primarily on skincare for around the eyes. Which, immediately prompted a question within myself: how well am I caring for my under eye area?
The answer: ……..Not nearly as well as I should be.
I’ve had a history of my sensitive skin reacting poorly to creams and gels that were meant for the eye area (as it stands, the only eye cream that my skin likes is the SK-II R.N.A Power Eye Cream). Most of them completely dry out the area around my eyes, or even irritate my actual eyes.
So, any opportunity for me to find new ways to care for my under eye area, I’m completely on board with.
VIIcode Skin sent Dax and I boxes of their O2M Oxygen Masks - which, here’s the fun part - they’re under eye gels that are meant to be worn for 8 hours while you sleep. I was definitely intrigued by this, and couldn’t wait to give them a go.
Here’s a quick run down on the product before we get into the review!
Benefits: VII oxygen masks provide everything your eye skin needs to be healthy - all the essential vitamins, antioxidants, proteins, botanicals, peptides, and essential fatty acids. These eye masks will treat tired eyes, dark circles, and fine lines - leaving a refreshed, bright, soothed under eye! Instantly refreshing and hydrating, these are extremely easy to use and reap the benefits.
Use: After cleansing, peel off outer packaging and apply gels to under eye area. Let masks work their magic for up to 8 hours, and then peel off. Use 2 to 3 times a week for maximum benefits (each box comes with 6 masks - enough for 2 to 3 weeks of treatment). These can be refrigerated for a better, more cooling experience. *Note: I was also told that if these are too uncomfortable to sleep in, or if they have trouble remaining in the same position throughout sleeping, you can wear these during the day for 2-4 hours*
Now, let’s move on to my experience with this product and how I feel about it!
At this point, I’ve used these masks 3 times - both during the day and at night.
I will say, right off the bat, that these are really comfortable to wear. They’re a thicker, clear gel, that sticks effortlessly to the skin and stays put. They aren’t messy, and don’t transfer while you’re trying to sleep - which is great.
The first time I tried these was right before bed, after my normal - more extensive - nighttime routine. The instructions say to use right after cleansing, but I had applied serums and moisturizer - so these didn’t stick as securely as they should have. It worked for me, though, I just had to readjust them a few times before bed. I made sure to make a mental note to use these on nights where my routine wasn’t so heavy.
The second time was during the day, after cleansing and using only a touch of toner, and they stuck a lot better. Once again, they were comfortable to wear, and super easy to put on and do things around the house without any hassle at all. After removing, I applied the rest of my daytime skincare without any hassle or having to remove weird residue left behind from the masks, which was great.
One thing I want to note - these are extremely cooling once applied, which I love. Especially since it’s been so hot where I live lately.
The third time I used these was at night, on top of a way lighter routine. It was a super simple cleanse, tone, HA serum, add a bit of moisture back into the skin, and that was that. They worked really well! I had no issues with them sliding around, and I removed them the next morning.
I enjoy these a lot, and I’ve noticed that although my sleeping schedule has been awful, and I’ve barely been resting (my high stress levels are catching up to me lol), my under eye bags and overall puffiness have been virtually nonexistent after removing these. I don’t struggle with dark circles so I can’t attest to that, but these definitely do treat tired eyes and puffiness. I’ll continue to use these a few times a week, for sure.
